Braishfield was established in 1984 at 100 Wall Street, NY, as a Property & Casualty and Employee Benefits retail brokerage.
Braishfield offices opened in Clifton, NJ, Boston, Mass. and Philadelphia, PA. in 1986. In a few short years, a very impressive client list was established comprised of Fortune 500, international and middle market businesses. Braishfield represented all major insurance markets and offered a viable alternative to the "alphabet houses" which dominated the market in the late 1980s.
Tribunalized at Lloyd's of London 1991. Binding Authority for property coverages launched on retail/wholesale basis.
Established Florida branch June 1992 in Melbourne, FL.
Created underground storage tank program in 1993, "PLUS" (Pollution Liability U.S.), underwriting pollution coverage on behalf of Zurich American.
Created Condominium "WRAP" program (Condo-Wrap®) in 1994 with Continental (primary), Chubb Umbrella, HSB equipment breakdown. Program well received by Florida agent/broker community.
Created SSIP (Service Station Insurance Program) in 1996. Awarded endorsement of New Jersey Gasoline Retailers Association (NJGRA), and later, endorsement of similar organizations in Pennsylvania, Florida and New York.
Created 13 state Homeowner Program in 1996 for major direct writer with General Star, Lloyd's, and Caliber One. Initial commitment for 30,000 policies.
Divested retail business in 1997 to focus exclusively on program/MGA products.
Sold PLUS to Zurich American August 1997.
Relocated Florida operations to larger Orlando facilities 1998.
Launched Homeowners Program on behalf of a second major direct writer network 1999.
Created Mobile Home Program, tenants and condo unit owners programs third quarter 1999.
Created "Hurricane Deductible Buydown" Program with ACE USA 2000.
Organization ownership changes May 2000, with the purchase of all remaining outstanding stock from Estate of Braishfield's Founder, Louis J. Kennedy.

Acquired by Brown & Brown on January 1, 2005 through an asset purchase agreement including the name Braishfield Associates, Inc.
